The report presents a table of 126 proximate analyses of samples from the caol seams intersected in 23 boreholes concentrated in an area of 12.5 square miles. These analyses indicate that the coals of the Morupule area can be classed as low grade, bituminuous steam coals relatively high in ash. In an arear of 9.38 square miles in the central portion of the Morupule basin, down to a depth of 450 feet, the reserves of coal, which calorific values of 11 to 12 lbs./lb. (average value 11.34 lbs./bs.) and ash contents of 12.0 to 18.8% are of the order of 150.5 million tons.
