The BGS Digital Map Production System. Overview Of The Logical Data Model by K A Bain & J R A Giles, 1993.

This report documents the logical design of the current Digital Map System (DMPS) in the form of the Generic Logical Dta Model. It specifically documents Version 1.0 of that model, and identifies current shortcomings and defects in it. The data analysis was carried out as part of Objective A (1:10 000 scale System Development) of the Digital Map Production Implementation (DMPI) Project for 1993/4, building upon earlier work specifically related to the production of 1:10 000 scale  maps. It's purpose is to describe fully and systematically the fundamental structre of the data shown on geological maps produced by the British Geological Survey (BGS).
