The work establishes the lithostratigraphy of the Karoo Supergroup in Botswana, which has been developed and revised from the previous major studies of the Karoo strata in Botswana(Green 1966, Clark-Lowes and Yeats, 1977 and Coates, 1980). The former Karoo system adopted by Green (1966) for Bechuanaland relied heavily on research into the Karoo system of South Africa.
