This abstraction represents an increase of 2.3% from the previous reporting period (1' January 2000 to 31' December 2000) and this is attributed to the commissioning of a new large slimes dam No. 7. During the early stages of commissioning of a new slimes dam, water recovery is difficult since it takes some time for the dam to seal and allow water to accumulate at the pier collection point. Dam No. 7 is twice the size of the previously built dams 1 to 6.
